Painting at Ace Basin

After attending the SEWE show in Charleston last week, Joe Garcia, Mel Fain, V....Vaughan and I spent four days at Ace Basin, south of Charleston. This is an annual event for us as we teach a one-day workshop there for the junior duck stamp winners for the state of South Carolina. Ace Basin is in the Colleton County low country - classic South Carolina marsh and swamp, teeming with wildlife - including alligators, mosquitoes and fire ants.

When we aren't teaching at Ace Basin, we're out painting. The wind blew over V's easel - and part of her turp bucket rolled down the bank into the alligator pond. Joe came to the rescue - but unfortunately, the missing part was lost forever to the muddy waters.
